All members automatically get one email address: ''your-user-name''@paddon.org.
Please send your request to [mailto:postmaster@paddon.org postmaster@paddon.org].

Individual email messages are limited in size to 50 megabytes.

All incoming email is filtered for spam.
Currently 80-90% of all email received by the server is spam, and is rejected before wasting your time.
From time to time, poorly configured mail systems may trigger these defences.
If this happens, please let [mailto:postmaster@paddon.org postmaster@paddon.org] know.

=== Webmail ===
The easiest way to pick up your email is via our [https://www.paddon.org/roundcube webmail interface].
Remember to log in with your user name, not your email address.

=== Email Forwarding ===
Your email can be automatically forwarded to any other email address on the Internet.
Please send your request to [mailto:postmaster@paddon.org postmaster@paddon.org].

=== Email Clients ===
Most email programs can connect to your account, including desktop and mobile email clients.
We support both the IMAP and POP mail collection protocols. Use IMAP unless you have a special requirement.
Recommended settings are:
{| class="wikitable"
|Incoming (IMAP) mail server||mail.paddon.org
|-
|User name||''your-user-name''
|-
|Password||''your-password''
|-
|SSL/TLS||on
|}

You '''must''' use our server to send mail from your paddon.org address. If you try to send through another server, it will probably be marked as spam.
Recommended settings are:
{| class="wikitable"
|Outgoing (SMTP) mail server||mail.paddon.org
|-
|Server port||465
|-
|User name||''your-user-name''
|-
|Password||''your-password''
|-
|SSL/TLS||on
|}

Each mail client uses slightly different terminology, but the basic settings are the same. You may need to look under an "advanced" configuration menu for some of them.
Make sure you turn on TLS or SSL settings, because we don't support unencrypted connections.

If you configured your email client prior to 2020-12-19, please note that the recommended ports have changed. Please update these values for better security.
If this happens, please let [mailto:postmaster@paddon.org postmaster@paddon.org] know.

=== Webmail ===
The easiest way to pick up your email is via our [https://www.paddon.org/roundcube webmail interface].
Remember to log in with your user name, not your email address.

=== Email Forwarding ===
Your email can be automatically forwarded to any other email address on the Internet.
Please send your request to [mailto:postmaster@paddon.org postmaster@paddon.org].

=== Email Clients ===
Most email programs can connect to your account, including desktop and mobile email clients.
We support both the IMAP and POP mail collection protocols. Use IMAP unless you have a special requirement.
Make sure you turn on TLS or SSL settings, because we don't support unencrypted connections.
Recommended settings are:
{| class="wikitable"
|Incoming (IMAP) mail server||mail.paddon.org
|-
|Server port||993
|-
|User name||''your-user-name''
|-
|Password||''your-password''
|-
|Use SSL (or TLS)||on
|}

You '''must''' use our server to send mail from your paddon.org address. If you try to send from anywhere else it will probably be marked as spam.
Recommended settings are:
{| class="wikitable"
|Outgoing (SMTP) mail server||mail.paddon.org
|-
|Server port||465
|-
|User name||''your-user-name''
|-
|Password||''your-password''
|-
|Use SSL (or TLS)||on
|}

Each mail client uses slightly different terminology, but the basic settings are the same. You may need to look under an "advanced" configuration menu for some of them.

== Instant messaging ==
The instant messaging service has been phased out.
There are many good free alternatives such as https://hangouts.google.com or https://slack.com.
This web site runs on a wiki engine.

= Email Scams =

Beware! There are many [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_email_scams email scams] and they are always evolving. The major reasons that email is attractive to scammers are:
* it is insanely cheap to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_spam spam] millions or even billions of accounts,
* it is easy to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_spoofing pretend to be someone else] (although [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMARC this is getting harder]), and
* it is easy to hide your tracks by using burner or subverted email infrastructure.

== How Do I Recognise a Scam? ==

Scams are the same online and offline. The scammer wants to take something valuable from you. Some key tells are:
* demanding money (including virtual currencies),
* creating a sense of urgency or panic,
* attempting to embarrass or blackmail you,
* asking for or using your personal information (including passwords!), and
* making promises too good to be true.

Note that sophisicated scams try to convince you they know everything about you. They use your email address. They may know a password from some other site that has been breached.

== What Should I Do? ==

In most cases, the best thing to do is ignore the email. Your address was probably mass generated by the spammer, or leaked from some other site. Don't worry. Your email address is not a secret and there is no security implication to it being public.

Don't try and reply to the scam. The sender's address is probably fake or misappropriated. If you somehow succeed, you are just [https://www.ted.com/talks/james_veitch_this_is_what_happens_when_you_reply_to_spam_email guaranteeing more spam].

== Thinking About Passwords ==
You really don't want a scammer breaking into your email account. For one, they will use your account to hurt others. Worse still, they may use information in your account against you in a targeted attack. These are not nice people.

The most effective things you can do are:
* Choose hard to guess passwords. Random and long is good.
* Only generate passwords locally. Don't trust online services that offer to this.
* Use a different password for each account. You don't want to lose everything becuase some lousy social networking site got breached.

Modern browsers can generate and remember passwords so you don't have to.

= IPv6 stateless address autoconfiguration of the WAN interface on a Unifi Security Gateway =

The WAN interface on a Unifi Security Gateway (USG) supports static IPv6 address configuration and IPv6 prefix delegation. However it does not officially support the scenario of IPv6 stateless address autoconfiguration. This mode is deployed by some ISPs, notably NTT in Japan.

This note describes the configuration of a USG to operate in this environment. It assumes familarity with USG administration, including config.gateway.json files, and basic Linux knowledge.

== Configure IPv6 stateless address autoconfiguration on eth0 ==

This requires the creation or modification of a config.gateway.json file on the Unifi controller. On a Unifi Cloud Key controller, this file is located at:
/srv/unifi/data/sites/default/config.gateway.json

The config.gateway.json should include the following nodes:
{
"interfaces": {
"ethernet": {
"eth0": {
"ipv6": {
"address": "autoconf"
}
}
}
}
}

== Configure private local IPv6 addresses for internal use ==
[https://asahi-net.jp/en/service/ipphone-c/ IP-Phone-C] is a VOIP service provided by [https://asahi-net.jp AsahiNet]. It is a rebranding of NTT's [https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%95%E3%83%AC%E3%83%83%E3%83%84#%E3%81%B2%E3%81%8B%E3%82%8A%E9%9B%BB%E8%A9%B1 Hikari] VOIP service, so these notes may be applicable to similar services from other resellers.

This note describes how to configure a [https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/small-business-spa500-series-ip-phones/data_sheet_c78-548564.html SPA504g] VOIP handset with the IP-Phone-C service. This information should be applicable to other VOIP handsets, although their configuration details will vary.

== Subscriber Information ==
Configure an extension on the handset as follows:
EXT > Display Name = <Your 050 Phone Number>
EXT > User Id = <Your 050 Phone Number>
EXT > Password = <Your Password>
EXT > Use Auth Id = Yes
EXT > Auth Id = <Your User Id>

== Audio Configuration ==
The IP-Phone-C SIP server only supports the G711u codec. Other codecs, or too many proposed codecs, may trigger a "488 Not Acceptable Here" response. Therefore configuration with just G711u is recommended.
EXT > Preferred Codec = G711u
EXT > Use Pref Codec Only = Yes

== NAT Configuration ==
If you are using NAT, enable keepalives:
EXT > NAT Keep Alive Enable = Yes

== RTP Packet Size ==
The IP-Phone-C SIP server only accepts a SDP attribute a=ptime with the value 20. Any other value will result in a "488 Not Acceptable Here" response, incorporating a "307 Session description parameter not understood" warning. This is an extremely difficult issue to debug without a priori knowledge, and the engineer involved should be ashamed of themselves for not providing a more meaningful error response.

The SPA504g emits the correct value with the following configuration:
== How Do I Recognise a Scam? ==

== What Should I Do? ==

In most cases, the best thing to do is ignore the email. Your address was probably mass generated by the spammer or bought from a data leak on some other site to whom you gave your address.

== Thinking About Passwords ==

== How Do I Recognise a Scam? ==

They may know a password of your from some other site that has been breached.

== What Should I Do? ==

In most cases, the best thing to do is ignore the email. Your address was probably mass generated by the spammer or bought from a data leak on some other site to whom you gave your address.

== Thinking About Passwords ==
You really don't want a scammer breaking into your email account. For one, they will use your account to hurt others. Worse still, they may use information in your account against you in a targeted attack. These are not nice people. Here's some simple rules:
* Choose hard to guess passwords. Random and long is good.
* Use a different password for each account. You don't want to lose everything becuase some lousy social networking site got breached.
